In 44 BC, Julius Caesar was brutally killed by group of senators. His death created a massive power vacuum, but over the next fifteen years Caesar’s named heir, a young man known as Octavian, slowly conquered all others seeking to rule Rome. By 29 BC, Octavian, now known as Augustus, had brought the entire Roman Empire under his own power—but there was still work to be done.
In the board game Rise of Augustus, you take on the role of a Roman legatus, an aid to Caesar Augustus charged with subduing rebellious provinces and winning over the senators who have not yet proclaimed loyalty to him. You’ll have to strategically choose your objectives, mobilize six different types of military legions, use the powers that you earn to conquer even bigger objectives, and put yourself ahead of the other legati vying for Caesar’s attention.
Conquer distant provinces and manipulate the Roman senate in Rise of Augustus, a fast-paced, strategic board game for two to six players set in early Imperial Rome. As one of Caesar Augustus's loyal legati, you must help him pacify the empire and consolidate power. Every province and every senator is an objective that you must complete by mobilizing your various legions, from those riding chariots and bearing your standard to those armed with secretive daggers. Some objectives offer new strategic powers, while your most remarkable successes will be lavishly awarded by the Emperor himself. Rise of Augustus is easy to learn and offers complex strategic possibilities that unfold over the course of gameplay. And, with over eighty different objectives to aim for, your rise to power will never follow the same road to Rome.
